English Subtitled HK TVB Serials

HK TVB have released a lot of their new shows with English subtitled. However, it does not seem to be for purchased but for rental only. The shows are on DVD.

I have had a chance to watch 2 of their shows with English subtitles. I was very suprised at how well done it was. The 2 shows I saw was Twin of Brothers and To Get Unstuck in Time.

Twin of Brothers is a WuXia that they collaborated with Mainland China to do. It was their big budget tv series for the 2004 year. The only complaint I have about the subtitles were that they use magical references instead of martial arts terminologies. Other than that, it was pretty good. The show does use traditiona wirework as well as computer generated sequences. Overall they did a good blend of traditional wirework, CGI, and martial arts.

To Get Unstuck In Time was a modern day HK drama that is very similar to the American movie Frequency. Basically, a modern day HK Cop uses his father's old cell phone to talk to his dad 20 years in the past. The twist comes in the fact that he changes the past which forces him to fix a lot of mistakes in the new timeline due to it. It had a really good storyline.
